Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.
FOSTER PROGRAM
SADIE
Stats: 10 years old, female
Location: Bryan/College Station, TX
Intake: 06/23/2024
Adoption Fee: $150
Sadie is a gorgeous 10-year-old standard Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as her journey. This sweet girl has already achieved so much, shedding over 40 pounds on her weight-loss adventure—and she’s still going strong! She’s *almost* down to her goal weight of 55 lbs. and is showing that she’s still a plenty active girl!
Sadie is as smart as she is sweet. She’s a quick learner and already knows commands like sit, down, leave it, and stay. She’s eager to please and would love to continue learning new tricks and skills with her forever family.
Fetch is her absolute favorite game, and she’s always up for a walk around the neighborhood or a cuddle session on the couch. Sadie has also come to love swimming through her weight loss journey, so bonus if you have a pool or will work in regular swim sessions for her! The moment you walk through the door, Sadie’s wiggle butt and excitement will make you feel like the most important person in the world.
Sadie has a torn CCL from a long time ago that does *not* cause her any pain or lameness at this time, so in consultation with our vet, we have decided not to put her through a very major surgery to repair it. She is on a daily joint supplement and anti-inflammatory medication ($50/month) due to overall arthritis and spondylosis (bone spurs along her spine). You would never know she has anything going on as Sadie doesn’t let anything slow her down! She’s full of life, energy, and love.
Sadie is wonderful with dogs, cats, children, and people of all ages, but her playful nature means she might not be the best fit for a home with small animals like rabbits (she finds them a little too tempting!).
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and active companion to share your days, Sadie is the perfect match. She’s ready to continue her journey and make incredible memories with her forever family. Are you ready to give Sadie the happy ending she deserves?
Sadie is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, spayed, and on monthly Heartworm prevention.
Sadie is being fostered in Bryan/College Station and will require the adopter to travel to meet her within 7 days of approval. If you already have an application on file with us, contact us saying you are interested in Sadie.
