Fosters are what make our organization go, go, go! The more fosters we have, the more pups we can welcome into safe, loving environments before they are ready to be adopted into permanent, forever homes.
The LSAR Foster Program is simple: We supply the pet, just add food, shelter and love! We will take care of all approved veterinary costs (including medications) for your LSAR foster pet. We just ask you treat them like one of your own; give them food/water, a soft, safe place to lay their head, and lots of love.
You do not have to be a dog whisperer to apply! No degree or special training is required. But make no mistake, fosters are indeed very special people! Fosters must be loving, patient, giving and dedicated. If this sounds like you, we'd be delighted to have you on our team!
Please note: A complete (and approved) application, as well as a home visit are required to join the LSAR Foster Program. We are currently "recruiting" fosters within our service area only. Please apply to foster if you currently reside within Texas or Oklahoma.
FOSTER PROGRAM
SADIE
Stats: 9 years old, female
Location: TX
Intake: 06/23/2024
Adoption Fee: TBD
Meet Sadie! Sadly, her lifelong owner ended up in assisted living and she needed a soft place to land. She is a super friendly, sweet girl who is more than double the size she should be. She was over 100 lbs. initially. Fortunately, she's already made a bit of progress before joining us, and is now down to 85 lbs., but she has about another 40 lbs. to lose. Sadie was already taken to a vet for evaluation as it is so painful for her to simply walk. The vet said her hips are where they should be, but she has advanced arthritis, her back is in poor condition due to the excess weight, and both knees show prior injury (again, likely weight related) with one (CCL) still having a minor tear they hope will heal with time and limited activity.
While we hate she lost her home, we are glad she'll now have a chance to live longer and pain free at her future ideal weight. It will be a journey, but we're here for it. In addition, a dental is in her future provided her senior labs check out ok, so more to come!
Welcome to LSAR Sadie!
